HOLIDAY,BILLIE (Artist) Format: Audio CD Vocal Jazz Editorial Review
**** The "Platinum Collection" of Billie Holiday is heralded as a remarkable compilation that offers a comprehensive exploration of the legendary jazz vocalist's career spanning three decades. Collecting a total of 60 tracks across three CDs, this anthology features recordings from the 1930s through the 1950s, showcasing some of Holiday's best work. Reviewers Consistently praise the collection for its impressive sound quality, particularly highlighting tracks from the 1950s which have exceptional clarity and stereo imaging that stand out even against contemporary standards. Listeners describe the album as a treasure trove for jazz aficionados, noting that even recordings from the earlier decades, while not fully remastered, maintain a commendable quality with minimal distortion. Enthusiasts appreciate the inclusion of essential information about each track, including recording dates and photographs, enriching the listening experience. Many feel the collection represents excellent value for money, especially given the breadth of content offered for a reasonable price. However, it is worth noting that some users reported inConsistencies in audio quality, with one track experiencing significant issues. This highlights a potential variance in production quality, likely influenced by the age of the source material. Despite this, the overall reception remains overwhelmingly positive, making this collection a must-have for both Billie Holiday fans and classic jazz lovers alike. **
