What is the size of the Glow Profond Deep Parabolic Softbox?

The Glow Profond Deep Parabolic Softbox measures 70.8 inches in diameter, which is approximately 180 cm. This large size allows for broad, soft light distribution, making it ideal for portrait, fashion, and product photography. The parabolic design helps in focusing the light and reducing shadows, perfect for achieving a professional look in your images.

What is a Focusing Rod System and how does it work?

The Focusing Rod System utilized in the Glow Profond Softbox allows photographers to adjust the depth of the light source. This system enables you to control the light spread and focus by allowing the softbox to be extended or retracted. It's beneficial for achieving different lighting effects, making it versatile for various shooting settings, from studio shoots to outdoor sessions.

Can this softbox be used with other light brands?

Yes, the Glow Profond Deep Parabolic Softbox features a Bowens mount, which is compatible with a wide range of studio lights from various manufacturers. This flexibility allows you to integrate it with your existing lighting gear seamlessly, ensuring you can enhance your lighting setups without needing to purchase dedicated equipment.

What materials is the softbox made from?

The Glow Profond Softbox is constructed using high-quality fiberglass rods, ensuring durability and stability. The outer material is typically made from reflective nylon fabric, which enhances light diffusion. Such materials are designed to withstand frequent use, making it suitable for professional photographers who often work in demanding conditions.

Is the softbox portable for location shoots?

Absolutely, the design of the Glow Profond Quick-Open Softbox allows for easy assembly and disassembly. Additionally, its lightweight construction makes it ideal for location shoots. With the included carry bag, it can be transported to various shooting sites effortlessly, making it a reliable choice for photographers on the move.

What types of photography benefit from using this softbox?

This softbox is particularly beneficial for portrait and fashion photography, as the deep parabolic shape creates flattering, soft light with controlled shadows. It's also ideal for product photography, where accurate light placement is crucial for highlighting details, textures, and colors. Essentially, any application needing soft, diffused light will benefit from its use.

How does the octadecagon shape affect light quality?

The octadecagon shape of the softbox enhances light diffusion by providing more angles of reflection compared to standard rectangular softboxes. This results in softer shadows and a more even light distribution across the subject. Such characteristics make it perfect for achieving a high-quality, professional finish in your images.

What accessories work well with this softbox?

Accessories such as diffusers, grids, and gels enhance the versatility of the Glow Profond Softbox. Diffusers soften the light further, while grids can control the spill and direction, allowing more precise lighting setups. Together, these accessories open up a wealth of creative possibilities, letting you craft unique lighting effects suited to various styles of photography.

How should I maintain my Glow Profond Softbox?

To maintain your Glow Profond Softbox, it's crucial to regularly check for any tears or damage in the fabric and clean it gently with a damp cloth when necessary. Avoid using harsh chemicals, as they can degrade the materials. Proper handling and storage will extend the life of your softbox, ensuring it remains a reliable part of your equipment for longer.

Glow Soft Boxes Quick Open Softbox Editorial Review

The Glow Profond Quick-Open 70.8 Deep Parabolic Softbox with Focusing Rod System 180cm is a quality product that provides several lighting options. However, there were some issues with the bowens mount flash holder, with two out of three metal supporting rods falling out. Customer service was poor, and the customer returned the product. There is not much information on how to assemble the product, nor what the focusing rod with numerical marks is for. This product is a real parabolic for not a terrible amount of money, it focuses, floods, spots, and provides wrap-around key light for photographers and beauty. It provides beautiful soft light and is a good value for money. It comes without honeycomb grid and focusing rod.
