Apes & Monkeys Editorial Review
"The Twits" by Roald Dahl emerges as a timeless delight for both children and adults, capturing the essence of what makes Dahl's storytelling irresistible. The narrative revolves around the unlikable married couple—the Twits—whose over-the-top antics serve as a humorous exploration of their despicable behavior and dysfunctional relationship. Readers are treated to a clever blend of wit and satire, illustrating that individuals often face the Consequences of their actions. The book is particularly well-suited for young readers, as its short chapters make it an ideal choice for bedtime stories. It manages to maintain an engaging pace, fostering a love for reading among children, as highlighted by parents who have successfully introduced their little ones to chapter books through this title. While some readers note that "The Twits" may lack the intricate wordplay found in other Dahl classics, its simplistic illustrations enrich the narrative and bring the humor to life. This delightful tale, albeit edged with some darker themes of mischief, offers valuable lessons shrouded in laughter, encouraging readers to explore the broader Dahl oeuvre. The book is recommended for those who appreciate outrageous antics and a little silliness woven into their reading experience. **
