- 15 Mayıs günü Yunanlılar İzmir'e asker çıkarmış. Bu, o gün öğleden sonra dedikodu kabilinden söylenmeye başladı. 16 Mayıs tarihli gazetelerde bunun doğruluğu ortaya çıktı...Dedikodular sürüp gidiyor: Yunanlıların asker çıkarması üzerine İzmir 'de büyük bir ihtilâl çıktığı, bizden 600 kadar ölü olduğu, bu miktardan fazla da Yunanlı öldüğü ve bu harekete 300 kadar kadının da katıldığı söyleniyor...İki günden beri Yunanlıların Karadeniz kıyılarında bazı yerlere asker çıkaracağı söyleniyor. Düşmanın bu hareketleri karşısında İstanbul'da kollarım bağlı durmak, ne can sıkıcı durum. İlk imkânı bulunca o tarafa geçmeye kararlıyım...Eylülün yedisi oldu. Bir haftadır sonsuz bir sevincin saadeti içindeyiz. Bütün endişe ve sıkıntıyı unuttuk. Hastalık, parasızlık, ıstırap, düşmanlık, gelecek endişesi, her şey, her şey unutuldu. Yalnız Anadolu Zaferi ve Yunan yenilgisii. Hakkı Sunata (1892-1988) istanbul'da doğdu. Vefa idadisi'nl bitirdi. Çocukluk ve gençlik yıllarına ait anıları bu dizimizde İstibdattan Meşrutiyete, Çocukluktan Gençliğe adıyla yayımlandı. Darülfünun (istanbul Üniversitesi) Hukuk Fakültesi ikinci sınıfındayken, Birinci Dünya Savaşı başlayınca askere alındı. Çanakkale'de ve Doğu Cephesi'ndeki anılarınıysa Gelibolu'dan Kafkaslara kitabında topladı. Mondros Mütarekesi ile terhis edildikten sonra istanbul'a döndü, yarım kalan hukuk tahsilini tamamlarken ailesini geçindirmek için Darülfünun'da çalıştı. Bu döneme ait az rastlanır bir bakış açısıyla tuttuğu günlükleri bu kitapla okuyucuyla buluşuyor. Kurtuluş Savaşı'ndan sonra Turgutlu'da savcı olarak İşe başladı. Orada evlendi. Denizli'de sulh hukuk hakimi; Karaman, Artvin, Zonguldak ve Gaziantep'de savcı olarak görevlendirildi, iki kızı ve bir oğluna okumayı sevdirdi; üçü de tıp doktoru oldu. 1958'de Tekirdağ ağır ceza reisliğinden emekli oldu. Tuttuğu çocukluk, gençlik, savaş ve istanbul'da işgal zamanına ait günlükleriyle anılarını, emeklilik döneminde yeni harflerle yazıp unutulmaması için çocuklarına bıraktı.
