- Wu Jing (670 - 749): One of the historians of the Tang Dynasty. The Art of Government, written in the early 8th century, is the most important and comprehensive work that has survived to this day about the rule of Taizong, the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty. In his work, which he designed as a reference source for emperors and rulers, Wu Jing compiled the conversations he had with his viziers and advisors throughout Taizong's 23-year reign from all the historical records he could access and separated them according to the subjects. The Art of Management, which covers a wide range of topics related to government, from state organization to literature, from agriculture to military service, reveals Taizong's understanding of fair and ideal government, which is open-minded, attaches importance to criticism, and prioritizes the welfare of its people, with examples. The Art of Management, like its counterparts in the Western and Islamic worlds, has been the longest-read and modeled work on management in East Asia since its writing.
