** Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser 967558-0403** The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser represents a significant stride in wireless technology, boasting both a keyboard and mouse that cater to a broad range of user needs, particularly for those leveraging their setups for activities like home theater PC (HTPC) use. Many users appreciate the sleek design and the visual appeal it adds to their workspace. Setup is often found to be straightforward, with intuitive hotkeys that can be customized for enhanced productivity. Positive experiences overwhelmingly highlight the mouse's functionality, describing it as a gem due to its practical features, long-lasting rechargeable battery life, and overall performance. Users feel that the mouse justifies the purchase with its reliable operation, even after years of use. However, the keyboard presents a dichotomy of opinions; while it comes with a plethora of built-in features, many users express dissatisfaction with its battery life and the discomfort of the wrist rest, leading some to opt for third-party alternatives. Conversely, not all experiences align with these positive perspectives. Certain customers faced frustrating installation processes, tech support challenges, and persistent connection issues that led to significant downtime. The Logitech software, which is pivotal for managing the devices, has been reported to be unstable, leading to frequent lock-ups and requiring multiple reinstalls—an experience that can be particularly discouraging for those who are more technically savvy. In summary, the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser has its share of admirers and detractors. For those who manage to either bypass the installation hiccups or already have an operational setup, the value it provides in usability and functionality can be significant, especially over a longer term. Nonetheless, potential buyers should weigh the inConsistency in keyboard performance and software reliability against the merits of the robust mouse and unique features. **
